Research conducted earlier this year on behalf of the International Casual Furnishings Association revealed that 40 percent of consumers would spend more time outdoors if their space were more comfortable and 56 percent are planning to buy new furnishings. Topping the list of desired purchases are outdoor dining tables and chairs.

“The good news is that there is a huge variety of choices in dining groups of all sizes and materials,” said Jackie Hirschhaut, vice president of the American Home Furnishings Alliance and executive director of its outdoor division, the International Casual Furnishings Association. “Consumers with large spaces can find tables for 10, and on the other end of the scale, there are plenty of offerings suitable for apartment and condo balconies. And there’s everything in between. Plus, styles range from sleek and sophisticated to laid-back and casual. There is truly something for everyone.”
