Member categories include manufacturers/importers, retailers, designers, sales representatives and Solution Partners who share the ICFA’s objectives for the sales of quality products and sustained growth of the category.

The current organization was preceded by the Summer and Casual Furniture Manufacturers Association founded in 1958 with membership limited to to manufacturers. The trade association thrived and evolved over the decades and in 2007, the forward-thinking board recognized the benefits of expanding membership to better serve all those involved in the casual furnishings industry.

In 2008, the Board of Directors of the Casual Furniture Retailers Association voted unanimously to integrate their membership and operations into the newly formed ICFA, which created a Retail Council within its managing boards.

In 2016, a Sales Representative Council was added.
