Sunnyland Outdoor Living Selected for 2024 Mary Fruehauf Retail Genius Award – Namesake Award Recognizes Creativity, Excitement and Fun in Outdoor Living

HIGH POINT – The International Casual Furnishings Association (ICFA) recognized Dallas-based Sunnyland Outdoor Living with the Mary Fruehauf Retail Genius Award during the ICFA’s recent Educational Conference in Scottsdale, Ariz. The committee received entries from ICFA retail members across the country specializing in outdoor living that presented unique and creative displays, events, promotions or concepts to the team of judges.

Brad Schweig, Vice President of Operations of Sunnyland Outdoor Living (center), received congratulations from Retail Genius Award judge Mariah Maydew, Fruehauf’s Patio and past winner Scott Horvath, O’Malia’s Living after receiving the honor at ICFA’s Educational Conference in Scottsdale.

The judges determined that Sunnyland Outdoor Living embodies what it takes to create employee and customer loyalty by presenting a seemingly limitless range of innovative events that are fun and grow culture within the company reflecting strong employee involvement. Their social media is creative and impressive, expanding their positive culture into the community.

The Retail Genius award was established by the ICFA Retail Council in 2017 in memory of Mary Fruehauf, whose Colorado outdoor furnishings store was known for its imaginative visual merchandising and entertaining promotional events. “Sunnyland Outdoor Living best exemplified the spirit of Fruehauf this year,” said Jackie Hirchhaut, ICFA Executive Director. “We look forward to seeing how they inspire other outdoor living retail businesses,” she continued.

Recent past recipients of the award include O’Malia’s Living in Carmel, Ind.; Village Green Home and Garden in Rockford, Ill., twice; and Viridien with stores in Charlotte and Raleigh, N.C. plus a store in Greenville, S.C.
