Richard Frinier Honored As Industry Partner

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Industry icon Richard Frinier received ICFA’s 2020 Industry Partner Award at the Association’s Educational Conference at the Kona Kai Resort in San Diego earlier this month.

The award is presented annually to a company or individual who has served on an ICFA board, council or committee and demonstrated a heightened level of participation in advancing the organization’s strategic plans and goals. Previous recipients include theMART and Glen Raven.

Frinier’s award-winning and internationally acclaimed career of more than 35 years includes designing some of the most recognized and best-selling pieces in the casual furniture industry. He has created thousands of designs of furniture, textiles, lighting and accessories generating over $1 billion in sales worldwide. His range of work encompasses soft modern and contemporary to transitional, traditional and exotic forms with an unmistakable essence of understated modernity blended with neoclassicism.

Frinier has been recognized with over 90 product design excellence and career achievement awards. He received the International Casual Furnishings Association’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2009 and was inducted into the American Home Furnishings Hall of Fame in 2016. In 2018, he was named among the Top 40 Influencers in the Home Furnishings Industry Over the Past 40 Years by Furniture Today.

His longtime support of the association was augmented in 2016 with the launch of the ICFA/Richard Frinier Design Scholarship. Endowed by the designer and his wife and business partner, Catherine, the scholarship was established to inspire students to create innovative outdoor living spaces for residential, contract and hospitality environments.
